Some of the events on this page may be organized by other groups. SWRL does not always have full knowledge of these activities and does not necessarily sponsor or endorse all events. Nonetheless, because natural gas and other fossil fuels affect our health, safety, environment and economy and the collective impact travels beyond the immediate path of any pipeline, people who oppose the West Roxbury Lateral pipeline may be interested in participating in a variety of activities. Please contact these organizations for further information.
2017 – Ongoing
Ongoing: Sit with Andrea Andrea Honore sits in the waiting area of Gov. Baker’s office every workday, hoping to speak with him about the Weymouth compressor station. Meet her outside the State House in Boston at 1 p.m., Mon-Fri June 26-30, go through security and wait with her from 1:15-1:30.
Ongoing: Come to the vigils across from the quarry (corner of Centre and Grove Sts in West Roxbury). Monday nights at 6:30 pm sharp until 7:00 pm, and Wednesday mornings from 8:00 to 9:00 am. This is the site where Spectra built the metering and regulating (M&R) station for the pipeline.
Since November 2016, a “letter writing” group has been meeting weekly on Thursdays at 7 pm. The idea is to send multiple letters about the pipeline to recipients who could include elected officials, other people in government positions, news media, etc. Bring your ideas as to what the requests would be. For the location, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
